Broadly speaking, archaeological discoveries can be separated into two categories. There are things that archaeologists expect to find, and then there are things that archaeologists don’t expect to find. This video is about the second category. It’s all about finds that were as surprising to the people who found them as they are to everybody else! From big mysteries to little curiosities, this video has it all.

Tames. LOL!
Thames beater... probably used to beat the dust and bugs out of the skins they slept in, much lake the rug beaters they used for much the same purpose up until the middle of the last century. Could also be something used to beat the fizz out of unruly school children who then tossed it in the river to prevent it from happening again. It's notoriously hard to date things found in rivers because al
Gyon chopper. Even more LOL!

King Arthur and the sord: Some of the legends say it was pulled from a stone, but more of them say that he got it from the Lady of the Lake. Since there is no written account going back to even close to that time, it's entirely possible that he got it from an ancient blacksmith.
Aw dammit! I forgot the opera glasses that I bought from that shifty character in DC, and left them in England when I moved back here. Just remembered that. Carry on.
Crown of Thorns: That's not a very thorny crown of thorns. Hajib: Hey crusader! I have this crown of thorns which was on Jesus's head when he was crucified. Crusader #1: I'll buy it! Name your price! Two days later, Hajib: Hey crusader! I have this crown of thorns which was on Jesus's head when he was crucified. Crusader #2 I'll buy it! Name your price! Rinse and repeat, then eventually open a tourist trap where you sell cross shaped candles which can be burned at both ends, and as many crowns of thorns as the market can bare, along with other chachkas and cheep touristy mementos, including ossuaries, relics, and cloths. Uncle Farouk's toenail clippings are indistinguishable from Jesus's so sell them too! Hajib: We have a grail, and also a tankard if that's too small. Take, drink, for this is my really good wine, and the stuff in the tankard is really good beer. It will knock you on your ass (get your mind out of the gutter. It's the one you ride, not the one that's on your body) after half a dozen sips! We even have a holy grail. I'll give you big discount on it though since it has so many holes in it.
Donkey found in Chinese tomb: It wasn't a donkey. It was a horse, and it's name was Charlie. It was ritually killed so that the emperor wouldn't get a charlie horse in the afterlife.

I do wish the narrator would pronounce Thames the way the English do. It isn't pronounced Taimes it is pronounced Temes

Did you ever consider the so-called beater was not a beater but a tool for string their soup? The second item was first used by the Vikings along with a Lockspir!-in the year 500 BC

When I watch any similar video I wonder if the producers got permission to include each of the little video clips from their sources.

It saddens me when I hear of ancient peoples destroying artifacts and traces of religion from previous cultures. It reminds me of the damage that Al Qaeda, the Taliban, ISIS, BLM, Antifa and American democrats have done to historic items. One thing they all have in common is they all want to rewrite history, so no one remembers the horrific things they did!
