Top Places in Corinth, Greece: Heraion of Perachora, Loutraki | Travel Video

Welcome to Perachora, the beautiful region of Greece, located 7 km northwest of the town of Loutraki in Corinth. Perachora's name is a transformation of the phrase "Peraia Chora" meaning in Greek "the land on the other side" (i.e. of the Isthmus of Corinth and the ancient city of Corinth).

In this video, we are visiting the small church of Agios Nikolaos that offers a stunning view (like the ones seen on Greek Islands) of the Corinthian Gulf and the Peloponnese. You can leave your car very close to the church but you need to walk roughly 10 minutes through an uphill path that is a little dangerous but pretty manageable. There is no sideways protection on the path, so make sure you're wearing your sport shoes in order not to slip. I wouldn't advice visiting with very small children.

Next we are heading at the Heraion of Perachora. An archaeological site once devoted to Goddess Hera. There, we find the beautiful beach with the emerald waters, which is located next to the archaeological site. You need to go down a long paved path and a few stairs (nothing dangerous) to make it to the archaeological site and beach. Make sure you're not carrying a lot of stuff, cause, trust me, you will have a hard time making it back to the parking lot.

At the top of the site, you can visit the lighthouse of Melagavi that offers stunning sunset view. I didn't bother filming that cause it looks way better if filmed with a drone from above. But... you get a distant glimpse of the lighthouse a few times in the video.

Καλώς ήλθατε στην Περαχώρα, την όμορφη περιοχή της Ελλάδας που βρίσκεται 7 χλμ βορειοδυτικά της πόλης του Λουτρακίου. Το όνομα της Περαχώρας είναι μια μεταμόρφωση της φράσης «Περαία Χώρα» που σημαίνει στα ελληνικά «η γη στην άλλη πλευρά» (δηλαδή του Ισθμού της Κορίνθου και της αρχαίας πόλης της Κορίνθου).

Σε αυτό το βίντεο, επισκεπτόμαστε τη μικρή εκκλησία του Αγίου Νικολάου που προσφέρει νησιωτική, εκπληκτική και απέραντη θέα στον Κορινθιακό Κόλπο και την Πελοπόννησο. Μπορείτε να αφήσετε το αυτοκίνητό σας πολύ κοντά στην εκκλησία, αλλά πρέπει να περπατήσετε περίπου 10 λεπτά μέσα από ένα ανηφορικό μονοπάτι που είναι λίγο επικίνδυνο αλλά αρκετά διαχειρίσιμο. Δεν υπάρχει πλευρική προστασία στο μονοπάτι, οπότε βεβαιωθείτε ότι φοράτε αθλητικά παπούτσια. Δεν θα συμβούλευα να επισκεφθείτε το εκκλησάκι με πολύ μικρά παιδιά μαζί σας.

Στη συνέχεια κατευθυνόμαστε στο Ηραίον της Περαχώρας. Ένας αρχαιολογικός χώρος αφιερωμένος στη θεά Ήρα. Εκεί, βρίσκουμε την όμορφη παραλία με τα σμαραγδένια νερά, που βρίσκεται δίπλα στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο. Πρέπει να κατεβείτε πολλές σκάλες, τίποτα επικίνδυνο, για να φτάσετε στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο και την παραλία. Απλά βεβαιωθείτε ότι δεν μεταφέρετε πολλά πράγματα, γιατί (πιστέψτε με) θα δυσκολευτείτε να ανέβετε ξανά στο χώρο στάθμευσης.

Επάνω από τον αρχαιολογικό χώρο, μπορείτε να βρείτε το φάρο Μελαγκάβι που προσφέρει εκπληκτική θέα στο ηλιοβασίλεμα!
