Per chillout (o chill-out) si intende, più che un genere musicale vero e proprio, un contesto musicale che include la musica di artisti ispirati a stili quali l'ambient, la trance e la new age. Spesso classificato come sottogenere del downtempo e dell'ambient, nonché associato a stili quali la musica lounge e l'etno-beat, il chill-out si sviluppò durante la seconda metà degli anni novanta ad Ibiza (Spagna), luogo dove ebbe modo di affermarsi.
In questa raccolta di 30 canzoni, è stata selezionata una vasta gamma di artisti, vecchi e nuovi della Irma Records.

Chillout (or chill-out) means more than a musical genre itself, a musical context that includes the music of artists inspired by styles such as ambient, trance and new age. Often classified as a sub-genre of downtempo and ambient, as well as associated with styles such as the lounge music and the ethno-beat. Chill-out was developed during the second half of the nineties at Ibiza (Balearic islands - Spain). In this collection, containing 30 songs, we’ve selected a wide range of Artists, new names and older ones that have been on the Irma Records’ roster for many years.
