In this video, Shane Lee shows how the beautiful Sony Bravia XR MiniLED 85" display can be used as a stand alone one box solution for home entertainment or paired with other Sony gear to enhance the sound quality and immersive audio theatrical experience. Shane starts with the 85X95L ($4,299.99) 85" display's internal 2.2CH sound system which consists of dual motion actuator tweeters behind the frame along with dual mids and dual bass drivers to provide 60 watts of best in class sound possible from a display device. He then adds on Sony's HT-A7000 Atmos Soundbar and SA-SW5 wireless subwoofer and surrounds to level up the sound. Sony's Acoustic Center Sync feature is utilized to take advantage of the 85X95L internal speakers in conjunction with the soundbar to further improve the center channel dialogue and engagement. Shane then pairs the 85X95L with Sony's flagship AZ7000ES 13.1CH AV receiver with a full compliment of MartinLogan speakers for the ultimate cinematic experience of sight and sound.

I've heard a lot of good reviews from Sony's flagship receiver. That's saying a lot - considering their receivers are rarely mentioned in audio circles.

Great review Shane. I'm a receiver believer 🤠

A 7 inch sub is gonna punch down to 28Hz? That seems impossible for 300 watts but will be interesting to see it try.

I use a soundbar in my bedroom and receiver in my living room

Thanks Shane. Still waiting on that "October" audioholics AZ7000 review :> I'm glad you mentioned low noise floor in your media room on your review at least -- I'm concerned with all the online "noise" about 360 SSM adding hiss intersecting with the pretty high sensitivity of the ascendos.
I do wish Sony would just ship a reasonably sized pre -- the AZ7000 is a bit of a beast!

I prefer an AVR with separate speakers, but see the used case for a sound bar in certain situations. My parents, for example, do not want to mess with an AVR, and setting up speakers, and so on. For them, a sound bar is perfect! I would also use one in a living room or guest room that is not my primary theater set up.

I would like to see comparisons like these that are geared toward performance per dollar. I suspect even the cheapest AVR of the Sony line plus speaker kit will blow away the sound bar. I am not sure why the high end AVR used in this example.

Have you tried using the screen with Center Channel? I’ve always hated voice coming from above or below the TV. I have a 77” A80k that I’m dying to know if it works well. Save me 500 bucks by getting the 9 not 11 channel one and running 2 center channels. Thx

What type of cable did you use between the S-Center in and outs, TRS or TRRS? Sony information is conflicting. Connecting the AZ5000ES with a X95L. BTW you will have to give up R&L Height2 speakers to use this feature. Just another limitation you won't find until you are in the configuration menu.

Out of 10, if you were to rate the X95L as a [1] and the AZ7000 as a [10], where would you place the A7000 soundbar??

I assume it's a big experience step up from tv speakers to a soundbar, and a smaller step up from a soundbar to an AVR??

The A95L has a S Center channel input AND center channel binding posts. It's not clear which one I should use if I want to use my TV as a center channel
