Saturday, May 18, 2018 - 06:00 pm to 08:00 pm: What the Buddha Taught, The Four Noble Truths - by Geshe Tenzin Namdak

Through direct experiences, each one of us has some knowledge of these truths; they lie at the heart of the Buddha’s teachings. The Four Noble Truths or catvāri āryasatyāni in Sanskrit, not only represent the awakening of the Buddha, but also the possibility of liberation for all sentient beings.

The Four Noble Truths are explained well using a medical analogy – ‘the illness needs to be known, the causes recognized, the cure taken and the disease abandoned. So should suffering be known, its origin recognized, its cessation actualized and the path followed'. This draws attention to the fact that the Four Noble Truths employ causal analysis to show us how to move from suffering to nirvana. Join us on this Special Day of Buddha Purnima, "Vaisakha", with Geshe Tenzin Namdak for a deep explanation on "What Buddha Taught ", The Four Noble Truths!

Born and raised in The Netherlands, Geshe Tenzin Namdak took his ordination with His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama. On April 26, 2016, Geshe Namdak received the title of 'Geshe' (after studying for 20 years in Buddhist philosophy) from Sera Je Monastic University in recognition of his completion of the advanced Buddhist studies and practice program.
