Appreciated Gerard fronting for this. My favourite part of this episode is the faint sounds of rain & insects in the background. Earlier episode that takes you inside the Waihi mine is in the caption if you're interested. If you like content about gold please subscribe, I have more coming!

Personally, I found the interview well-balanced and thoughtful. However, mining on protected land in New Zealand remains a difficult issue to support, regardless of potential profits

Another top interview, informative and well balanced. Really do not see any negatives here given its underground and heavens know we need the income.

All that gold leaving the country. NZ should keep it here and pay off the national debt.

I remeber 30 plus yrs ago when we owned a house in Waihi and my step father worked at the mine. Jeanette Fitzimmons and her co-horts were protesting about the mine being there and how it will degrade the local enviroment. (But lets forget her and her hubby having a fire get away on her and burnt all that native bush). The company back then spent alot of money on making certain the environmental footprint and care was upmost. Back then they wanted to shift the whole town and mine it as it was so profitable. Waihi back then was a town going backwards all the major industry were shutting down. Now not just employing people all the side industries it supports. For every one person a mine employees there a 3 other jobs created.

Only one comment from Mr Bond I disagree with in part. Sometimes in mining or exploration, it is actually more beneficial to delay the mining of the resources, as inground value increases with the increase in commodity value. Fine balance between cashflow and depleting NPV at lower prices.
