It doesn't set a limit on the charge. It's only meant to send you a notification when the charge reached 80%. It won't keep the battery from overcharging when the phone has to stay connected for any reason (like wired Carplay).

In Samsung phones you don’t have to disconnect it physically it automatically disconnects the phone at 85%.in iphone it just gives you the reminder you have to disconnect it physically.
Actually its not a shortcut or automation its just a audible reminder.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max For 1 year it went down to 90% and after 3 years it went down to 89% still good still happy

I only charge to 20% to 80% only 3-4 times charged to 100% because I had a deep asleep didn’t eat fully charged speak.
