President Biden & President Macron Meet for First State Visit Since COVID | EWTN News Nightly

President Joe Biden hosted his first state visit on Thursday since the pandemic. He welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron to the White House. The international event brought together the US and its oldest ally, but the 2 countries still squabble over differences. The White House hosted an official arrival ceremony for the president of France featuring military music and marching. President Biden praised the enduring friendship between the 2 countries. Then, invited President Macron into the oval office to begin their formal business, an agenda packed with tricky topics like the war in Ukraine and competition with China. The 2 world leaders also addressed the media. The US and France have unresolved issues as President Macron criticized the Inflation Reduction Act and the Chips Act during a speech Wednesday at the French embassy.
