Following on from your reply to James. If the translation and stretch/reflection are inside the bracket should I work right to left for the order to ensure the answer is write and if they are not in a bracket together should i work left to right? Is that an easy way to make sure I get it right every time?

for simplicity can i adopt as a rule of thumb, to apply the translation last so it is not effected by any multiplications to the x coefficients? Will this work for all functions?

for the second question can you not translate bye 0 -1 and then reflect in x?

Hi sorry to bother you. I have a questions regarding an answer given in the mei c3 c4 text book. Exercise 3B questions 2a) iv) and v). It gives you a function f(x)=x^2+4 and asks you to explain how the graph of f(x) could be used to sketch iv) y=f(2x)+3 and y=3f(x-2). The answer in the back implies that the order you do things in matters as it tells you to perform a transformation THEN a stretch, but I was under the impression that the order doesn't matter in this case, because of the rule of thumb.

I've tried to perform the transformation in either order and it doesn't seem to matter, but I am an idiot so...
