You CAN'T Pick And Choose Verses From The BIBLE

Many have heard the phrase, 'Faith without works is dead,' and wrestled with the idea of whether it implies earning a place in heaven. Many also use this verse to say to get into heaven you must have good works. Similarly, Philippians 4:13 is often seen plastered on gym walls—'I can do all things through Him who strengthens me'—leading some to interpret it as a promise that anything you can imagine is within reach through Christ.

Well, here's the thing: pulling verses out of context can lead us to some pretty wild conclusions. Take Philippians 4:13, for example. At first glance, it might seem like a blank check for success. But when we zoom out and read verse 12, we see Paul is talking about enduring life's ups and downs by relying on God, not chasing personal ambitions.

The same principle applies to James 2:24—a verse that's often misunderstood and misused. So, what does it really mean? And how do works fit into faith? Pastor Todd Friel is about to break it all down and unpack the powerful, life-changing truths hidden in the context.

Daily encouragement and profound answers for a deeper walk with JESUS

True faith naturally produces works, If you have true faith you will follow Jesus and his ways.

Faith isn’t just what you believe—it’s what you live.

• Your actions reveal your faith. If you truly believe, you’ll move accordingly.
• Your actions shape your beliefs. The more you act in faith, the stronger your belief becomes.
• Your beliefs form your identity. What you consistently do and believe defines who you are.
• Your identity shapes your perception. Seeing yourself through God’s truth changes how you view the world.
• Your perception dictates your reality. A faith-filled perspective leads to a life aligned with God’s promises.

This is why “faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). Faith isn’t faith until it moves. If there’s no action, the belief isn’t real—it’s just an idea. True faith leads to obedience, and obedience transforms your entire reality.

Romans 4 4-8 now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace but of debt but to him that worketh not but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly his faith is counted for righteousness even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works saying blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin and further more if Abraham didn't believe God he wouldn't have done the works so either way it revolves around faith

“NOT by WORKS of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost”. Titus 3:5 The man in vid clings to one verse about works ignoring the many other verses that clearly teach salvation is by grace! Furthermore he chooses to cite a verse from a epistle, James, that was clearly written specifically to Jews! “James a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, TO THE TWELVE TRIBES scattered abroad, greeting.” James 1:1 To quote one verse from James and ignore all the other verses teaching salvation by grace through faith in Galatians and Paul’s crowning treatise of the doctrine of salvation the book of Romans! It also shows poor bible exegesis and general lack of knowledge and understanding in the scriptures! Great vid brother, good bless!

We all are the descendants of Abraham, so the works apply to us too, even though we are gentiles, it applies too. We were born in sin as Romans chapter 3 says, what save us is working to love everyone, preach with the example, save them from satan and believing in Jesus and his sacrifice.
C'mon guys, as Paul said "be like me" it means that we need to be like Jesus was when he was on Earth.

James was talking to the Jews in verse one he says to the 12 tribes of Israel. This is not the church of the Gentiles. When you see a verse about works, it applies to the Jews. If you study dispensational teaching it all makes sense. Not every verse in the Bible applies to you
