i was 16 years old the year this came out and was really getting into hard rock/screamo music and all of the amazing new bands coming into the genre. i ended up seeing the music video to this song on a whim and it absolutely made me burst into tears. it still fills me with the most powerful hope that love can last a lifetime, and long after, if we put effort into never forgetting how precious it is. the video, too, is absolutely beautiful as well. but it's the lyrics and instruments that just blow me away every time. it's just one of those uniquely emotional songs that talks about the hardships and vulnerability of love to a tune that has such a hopeful feeling. because love IS scary as fuck. giving your heart to someone is the bravest thing any of us can do. it's nerve wracking and unpredictable and challenging. but with the right person, love is the most powerful thing we can achieve as human beings. this song just...god, it just has stuck with me through the years because it encompasses allof these things without making it revolve around the fear of love. it's not about what we might lose. it's about what we might gain. sorry, this is all so fucking obnoxious i'm sure lmao but this song has always given me this feeling and it's nice to put it into words. sorry in advance for the giant novel of ~feelings~.
