Cutting out a gear for my box joint jig on the table saw, no bandsaw required.
I also have a video on cutting out gears with a jigsaw at:

Been on a nostalgia-trip watching your older videos for the last 2-days, it STILL took the algorithim 2-days to even mention this video was up.

Your videos are so simple (the videos, not what showed in them😅) and I like them so much. Much more then others that are overdoing it in the editing or effects or whatever. You show and teach, simple as that.

Still a whole lot safer than how I’ve seen others on YouTube operate a table saw.

Hey Matthias, we all know that you're not a big fan of CNC in home shop (videos).
But I would watch every second of 20 episodes of you building one. From scratch with common shop tools, with electronics etc. Just for the show, even when you dont use it very often afterwards.
I cant be the only one who dreams of this...

You also had a jig for the jigsaw :D

If I learned one thing from your videos, it's "always have the right jig to cut things" :)

Learned a lot from the inverted scroll saw as well.
I would not be surprised if this would also be possible with the pantorouter

Now I'm curious to learn more about this double disc involute cutting method. :'D

As usual, very clever indeed Matthias.

You can also make special sanding block that fits inside gear's teeths-easier to sand

Looking at how Mathias cut that gear it seems possible you could speed up the process by using a similar mechanism like the box jig. Cut one tooth, move the work forward, slightly rotate the circle and cut another tooth. The sloping edges would need the circle angled also. I’m no engineer and not going to try this but seems possible.

Reason number 192 to have a smooth running table saw.

Honest question, what is the advantage of cutting gears this way versus a band saw? I like your circle cutting method on the table saw, but for the teeth of the gear it seems easier to do on a band saw as you can rest the work piece on a horizontal surface (of course if someone didn't have a band saw this would be a silly argument).
