Season 4 Episode 1: The SneAKA, Reebok X AKA Story

#TheSneAKA is a highly exclusive, limited edition product. Only 600 pairs are being made. Each box is individually numbered and signed by AKA
As part of the design process, AKA hooked up with the Reebok O.G. – James Hardaway, Head of Product/Brand Marketing who's been with the brand 27 years. The artist was given rarely granted permission to film inside the Reebok vault. Controlled light, controlled temperature, controlled air – and crazy secure of course. White gloves time!
Time was also spent with Chris Hill, Reebok Design Manager, Fashion, Colabs and Statement footwear and Alejandra Roig-Bucco, Fashion And Statement Footwear. This sneaker is gonna be a cut above on every level.
Sole Knowledge, planned to feature #TheSneAKA as part of the Episode one for Season 4.
Reebok and Sole Knolweldge agrred on a date that the shoes would arrive in the Sole Knowledge Johannesburg studies, but doe to delays this the planned timing was not met.
Sole Knowledge did not film the episode and left of a trip to Cape Town. Reebock gave SOLE Knowledge another call while in Cape Town to say “Why don’t you come to collect your pair of #TheSneAKA and you might still get a chance to meet AKA who is currently visiting the Reebok offices in Cape Town.
The meeting between AKA and Sole Knowledge was an unplanned chance encounett which took place and AKA was signing all of the 600 boxes. Supe Mega even took time from what he was doing to explain that his choice of materials were focused on a premium statement and this too came through in the butter leather coloration. The Vector (Reebok Logo) has used 3M Scotchlite to draw back to the Reebok Classics Running Heritage.
The Cheetah print also appeared on the sock line to draw heritage back to Africa and deliver a message of SPEED.
AKA said” Everything that we’ve done has been about pushing boundaries. We’re very lucky to be working with epic Reebok people, global and regional who have a lot of passion for what they do. That passion comes out in every communication that we have back and forth – and that passion is going to come out in #TheSneAKA. We all know what’s at stake here”
