Xbox Series X|S Gamma Flickering Issue *SOLVED*

In this video I explain how to eliminate that annoying gamma flickering once and for all.

Checklist:
-Apply preferred settings (120hz or 60hz with or without HDR10 and Auto HDR)
-Hard boot both the console and display by unplugging the AC power cable from both
-If flickering persists, try disabling HDR10 - this should solve the problem.

*It should be noted that the Series S stock cable is not an Ultra High-Speed HDMI 2.1 cable, so in order to achieve 120hz without flickering, you will need to purchase a separate HDMI 2.1 cable.

Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 Cable-

If you're still experiencing gamma flickering on your Series X at 120hz, try disabling HDR and/or VRR. OR you can simply run at 60hz.
If you're on the Series S, make sure you have an HDMI 2.1 cable. The Series S DOES NOT come with an Ultra High-Speed HDMI 2.1 cable.

Thanks for watching, gamers!

Just got a series x and halo. I was so upset when the screen started flickering. It got so bad that it disconnected the controller and froze the image. I’m on a lg c8. So far turning off hdr fixed it. Thanks!

Worked like a charm for me - Thank you!

Just turning off VRR solved the flickering issue for me. HDR tuned on or off doesn't matter atleast in my case. But I personally prefer HDR turned off for most games, especially RDR2, it looks much better without HDR in my TV.
Nevertheless, thanks for the tip 👍.

I had this issue. If your running one of the two consoles here on a 60 Hz monitor/tv you will need to run the console on 720p. The reason is because the console is trying to put too much of a RR into a lower RR screen

I have done everything here and still nothing, I have also changed the cable and still nothing. I ordered a new cable and if that doesn't work i think ill call microsoft's customer service. Great video by the way.

Awesome video thank you - have the series x link to the LG CX - I have notice a slight flicker and you can only see it in dark seems - not as bad as what you had show. Doesn't do it on the PS5 just on the Xbox, would this be the same problem? You have to really look for the flicker (so to speak) but when you see it you can't stop seeing it.

I just got a LgB4, tried it on call of suty, worked great for the first time, a few days later, it just keeps kicking in and out dolby vision....
If I disable Vrr, it goes flawlessly.
Was using the series s cable by mistake, and it worked. After the glitch, I checked the cable and switched it, and nothing happened, same error....
Is there any way I can get it back working with VRR ?

It‘s not the xbox. It‘s a gamma flimmer in VRR mode. LG still hasn’t fixed the issue. Turn of VRR in the TV settings, this way you don’t lose hdr or the 120 frames (but tearing and other problems might pop up, but they need a traind and good eye).

so if i get a hdmi cable that can run 4k/120hz will that allow me to have HDR 10 on? because I'd like to have 4k 120hz with HDR 10 but can only have 4k 120hz at the moment. With hdr 10 it causes the flickering and stuttering. I have the Xbox series X btw if that matters

So the hdmi 2.1 cable that came with the series X is no good? I am up to date on my CX with firmware, but I still see slight flickering. So if I buy this new cable, it will fix it?
