Turn off Cartoon Effects UPDATE in Need for Speed Unbound!

Criterion is back! Giving a significant shift in Need for Speed's future, adding hugely requested features like realistic smoke, turning off the cartoon effects, car sorting and an update from the studio...

I usually don't mind cartoony artstyle in games, but for NFS like this, photorealismm is a way to go.

I adore the driving effects, so I'll keeping them on. But it's great to see this option, and the actual flames definitely look better! More customization could be nice.
Hopefully, this new option will boost player numbers which will result in more updates and more content!
I love this game, and would love to see it get supported for years to come, like the Crew 2 did.

That's cool. And I really hope they will add tire width and track width sliders. Tire width was a thing in Carbon; that was in 2006, and the track width was in 2015. I don't understand why it's such a challenge to make these a standard since the franchise reboot in 2015.

it would really be nice if the (smoke, special effects, exhaust) could be three seperate options to be individually changed. but so happy the sorting is in, i used to sort it through the sell my cars section

ngl first playthrough i had the smoke on the black/closest to off setting. but on a second run through the story i had them on and it really does fit the game in my op... kind of love it

I'm very glad they added this, It's nice to have options. If you want realistic smoke it's now there, If you want the animated cartoon look it's there.

Although the original effect is clean and awesome to have for the option for us . The cartoon style makes the game feels unique and i really like it . i would keep it on :D . Regardless, i happy what they done to this little update .

I like the cartoon effects. I think the ability to customise those effects, as in onyl effects for nitro, or smoke, would be a nice addition and will meet the needs of both kind of people.
Those who needs effects amd those who doesn't.

See I love this update and I'm very happy with the additions it brought as it's always good to have more options and everything has it's place, I will be using different options where they fit. The realistic smoke is amazing and I can't wait to equip it on my realistic skyline build but I couldn't help but get concerned when I saw how it takes away every single effect (even the necessary ones like the full burst nitrous explosion) without adding a suitable replacement to it because now it's going to be hard to tell when someone used burst nitrous and it's going to make it easier for cheaters to cheat and get away with it and it will be overall more confusing.

I've been playing this since it first came out and I love the "cartoon" fx. However, I also like it without. So simply, I think going forward, it would be nice to be able to turn them off and on as you feel. It's great that they are listening to fan feedback.

I really like the Effects. I prefer them tbh. Glad to see NFS responding to community requests. Awesome on their part
