I think a school bus retro fit could be a huge case flow for you guys, most school bus chassis are copy and past for space of engine bay and axel location. And if the school is already being forced into 400k per bus for all electric and you can sell a retro fit kit to keep the existing buses on the road that would be a huge market.

"We're going to change the industry" is spot on and so cool that it is Deboss & Edison doing it!

Been discussing this with my employers, and they are very intrigued by this whole project. Having what amounts to an onboard generator would benefit us so much in the patch. Saves us from having to haul one around.

My brothers and i sit around and talk trucks. We laugh at the E150, the Tesla Cryertruck, and efforts like that. We have all pulled stuff and know that if your gas mileage drops in half, your battery will drop at least that much faster as well. My truck has a 50 gallon tank, I think it would need to be ALL BATTERY in every possible place to get even close to the range of that tank. What YOU GUYS are doing here is OUT-STANDING! Its exactly spot on. LOVE the ability to do things like welding, running air-compressors or lights from the battery pack. In a tow truck or bucket truck running all the tools, lifts, winches, lights, and whatnot with NO rumbling diesel would be awesome.

We have constantly said, the 'all electric truck is a bridge too far' with today's technology. Batteries might improve, true that, but even if the perfect battery landed tomorrow, we couldn't charge them all for a decade anyway!!!

Ok, some design hints. I got involved with Danfoss motor drives in 1983 and continued for 30+ years. Plus I have driven a Prius for over 10 - hybrids are a great solution. For retrofits: keep the differential(s) and hard-mount the e-motor. Short drive shaft etc so the wheels do their thing and the motor doesn’t bump around. Cars, pickups and utes travel at highway speeds whereas heavies don’t. Drop the transfer case for 4WD. Batteries go amidships where the trans was. You only need enough battery for the acceleration surges. It’s gonna be modelling the max vs. cruise etc demands that will challenge most, and big battery won’t be needed. I loved the video on Topsy towing the tank. For new machines, go to the builders and get chassis and body minus drive train. If you order enough pieces they will accommodate you. Fire trucks, ambulances etc do this already. Drive should be independent suspension with CV drives and one motor per axle. I.e keep the single-hard-mount e-motor per axle. Bonking the mass of the motor with ordinary wheel motion is a no-go for reliability. Best wishes for you guys, get in there first. P.S. I thought the Avro Aero was a cool plane.

Tow truck and hotshot trucks are my vote. You hit the nail on the effectiveness of the tow truck and for the hotshot trucks the efficiency is increased for driving cross country. I will be following and ordering for hotshot 👍 I have a 2015 Ram 3500 dually.

I think at the beginning the easiest group to introduce the diesel electric is the construction industry, as contractor trucks. And going more in depth if you were to make an example of converting a 04’ to 10’ F350, F450, F550, no one wants the 6.0/6.4 in their work truck. And I bet people would be willing to put those trucks into a conversion because they are fairly new trucks but just have a bad power plant.

Glad to see you two working together. From my perspective, I would aim for the biggest target you can with a new market/product. To me, that's something that fits the half-ton to 1-ton light trucks, the F150/1500 to F350/3500 crowd. I'd probably also simplify the first offering by making it just RWD. Steering axles are a pain and it just adds to the bottom line. Maybe you can even structure it so the base kit is RWD and then you purchase a front-axle kit as a complimentary piece. So every truck gets the RWD kit and then you just add extras to it like a second rear axle kit, a front axle kit, extra batteries, heavier axles, etc. That way you can start by making a kit the parts you have in front of you, while planning to release add-on kits for all the extra markets and uses in the future.

Mechanics truck. It'll cover welding, jump starting machines charging tools, powering a camper on the road, air compressor, crane and lights

This is one of the coolest collabs in existence. I love both of these entities amd they are trying to solve a real problem. I am so excited to see where this goes in the future.

I think the one ton market is probably a good place to start. What about replacing the truck bed with a drop on flat bed like a CM flat bed, eventually could be made modular, service bodies, tow truck bodies etc.

Epic is an understatement here! Congrats to all. Can't wait to follow the progress.

I'm actually quite excited for this project, can't wait to see how it comes along through 2024!

I’m so happy this collab is happening. I’ve been following Edison for a long time and Chase is just an awesome guy. He delivered on everything he set out to do with the truck, so I have no doubt this endeavor will also have great results in the end. Can’t wait to watch and see what comes of all this.

A lot of my questions were answered in this video. Big fan of going with an axle for F450. Would have been my suggestion.

This is fabulous news!
I've been watching Deboss Garage for a couple years and love your content, especially the swaps!
And I love the Edison truck, it's a BC truck, and a brilliant idea!
Around 15 years ago I remember wanting to make a diesel hybrid out of my 3/4 ton 1986 Suburban using a VW TDI engine as the generator--you're making it a reality!
Way to go, I'm excited to see you progressing through the build process!

The tow truck retrofit is the best idea for the first project. Because like Chase said, electric vehicles are already out there. So if someone could pull up and give them enough juice to get to a charging station would be a game changer for everyone. I will definitely be watching the process. And i work for a municipality and I'm going to bring these idea's for vehicles and equipment to the powers that be. Great job for both of you, can't wait to see what happens in the future.
