On Windows there is no setting available to uninstall Microsoft Edge from your PC. Here's how:
To uninstall Microsoft Edge, run Command Prompt as system administrator and enter the following while pressing Enter in between commands:

cd/

cd Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\XXXXXXXX\Installer

How to stop Microsoft Edge from reinstalling:

Open the Registry Editor:

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft

Right-click the Microsoft folder, and select New - Key. Name the key “EdgeUpdate” and then right-click it.

Select New, then “DWORD (32-bit) Value” and name it “DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium.”

Once you’ve created the new DWORD Value, double-click it to open a new window and change the value from 0 to 1. Click OK to confirm, then close Registry Editor.

(Restart)

If you decide you want to reinstall Edge, change the value you created back to 0 and download Edge from the Microsoft Store.

Keep an eye out for fresh content uploaded regularly.

I run a very "uncluttered" laptop running Windows 10 (22H2). No documents, files or photos are saved on my PC - everything is stored on cloud storage apps. The only 3rd party apps on my device are Kaspersky AV, Google Chrome, and Yandex Disk.

I use Google Chrome as my default browser with MS Edge as a "back-up" browser. Edge is a good browser, I just don't like the UI, all the MS stuff that comes with it (like "Bing"), and of course the annoying MS "prompts" that the "recommended" Edge browser should be restored as default.

It would be great to unistall Edge but I wonder if using Command Prompt, then the registry editor (to remove it, and to stop it being reinstalled with Windows updates) will cause OS "niggles" and gradually more problems further down the line....

Have uninstalled edge along time ago using similar methods, I use chrome as my default and Brave as a backup

Every update they decide to patch these things. It's ridiculous how desperate they want to keep their browser on our device

Hey, using command executor or powershell doesn't work anymore, what I suggest is open your task manager, search for everything named edge and stop their tasks, then hit your shortcut of edge to be in edge's folder and delete everything, if it block you and say you cant because a thingy is still running it will give the name of it, just search it on task manager and do the same process, then you can run the commands to provide edge to reinstall, for the moment thats what I did and it work properly. >be carefull and just delete whats attached to the app and not everything named after edge<

How to temporarily Uninstall Microsoft Edge in Windows 11 / 10

Press Search icon form Taskbar

Write registry editor then choose Registry Editor

Copy the lines below one at a time and Past in registry editor search for folder name edge and delete it:

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc then in the Task Manager select Microsoft Edge and press right click then choose End task.

Press windows icon in the taskbar then choose Settings then Apps then Startup then turn off Microsoft Edge then Restart Pc then choose Pc icon then C Drive then choose Program Files x86 then Microsoft then delete Edge folder and other folders.

Then if you press on any Microsoft Edge icon and press Yes it will delete.

I usually prevent updates for over a week in windows too, it's not perfect but it works
