A 30 cal cans hold 400 7.62x51. I even pack a slice of cardboard at each 100 rounds. Toss the flattened box (for lot #, powder consistency, and projectile characteristics) and seal the ammunition box. Date and sign the seal tag, tape over the seal tag and box opening, and continue to pack ammo boxes.

For reference, I was a Gunnersmate in the CG. Yes, I loved my job, I just hated the bureaucracy.

You should look into adding some dessicant packages to make sure any moisture already in the can or if the seal doesn’t completely form non gets to the ammo, you can buy a bag of ones 4x the size of ones that come in most packaging
