The song is called epirotiko mirologi not Albanian something. The player is Alexis Zoumpas a Greek Roma born in Grammeno, Epirus, which is the heart of Greece and Greek mirologia. No meaning to call them south Albanian, it is in fact a blasphemy to Zoumbas and his great art and a shame to truth. A reading of Christopher King’s book Lament from Epirus is enough to show how deeply in Epirus and Greece this music is embedded. We should be forever indebted to him (Christopher King) for having saved this wonderful music from oblivion.
