Missed on this top 5 was geometry. This drastic mis step doesn’t tell the consumer if the bike is more extreme trail worthy or better yet for bike packing or simple trails, gravel graded paths, road or pavement

Specialized Fuse Comp for 3k is basically the same bike with same geometry as the aluminum Diamondback Sync’r that was $750 end of 2022

Ooooh...ya missed a bunch...and the best. And the best are the brands that don't advertise everywhere. Cotic, Ragley, Whyte, GT(Zaskar LT), and Marin. I did have a 2020 $473.00 Schwinn hardtail from Walmart(sold-it). Equipped with Weinmann wheels, 29x2.35 Kenda tires, Shimano Zee components and a Suntour Aion 29 fork. Of all the expensive hardtails in my basement, this one was definitely the workhorse that refused-to-die.
