Personally, I love skeleton crew. It's a great ship and has the fimun of Star Wars that is needed with still some serious moments. Each episode builds on the story, and we learn more. Zero complaints with the show.

I thought that George said that Star Wars is for kids at some point, but kids grow up and remain fans. That’s where shows like Andor are cool, for the fans that were kids, but now adults.

Kids are Starwars main audience adults are profitable and when you first watch Starwars you were most likely a kid, Starwars has a universal appeal no pun intended.

It feels like every time this topic is brought up, I just want to show them that "but the clone wars is a kids show" video lol. It was a kids show, but didn't shy away from showing some brutal war crimes going on.

Star Wars target audience is everyone with a lean towards younger audiences.
The Goonies was for younger audiences that lean towards everybody.
Skeleton Crew if The Goonies with Star Wars paint on it, more for kids, but also can be enjoyed by most audiences

There is comedy in the OT. Han has many "funny" moments for example, so does Obi Wan in the Prequels. But, this show was purposefully and clearly AIMED at children, they have said so many times. The OT SW was not AIMED at children, it was meant for all ages and was created because of George's love of Flash Gordon.

It comes from the quote of Lucas who said it's aimed at 11 year olds or whatever, and them not understanding what he was actually saying, which is that it's a coming of age story about young people not really knowing what their place is, and anyone can feel that at any age. He said that and clarified it and people never really listen to what he actually meant.

I've always thought of starwars as a whole like this, its not a kids movie, its the first adult movie that kids can watch. That was my experience with the movies.

Good writing and good characters can still be done in children's stories and movies. I loved that Star Wars addressed the damage of what fear, anger and hate can do. The Luke in Return of the Jedi is very different from the Luke we met in A New Hope because he has learned from his mistakes and pushes himself to be more mindful of his actions. Kids need to see that we have to learn from our mistakes to grow as a person. Luke's faith and determination to save someone rather than just give up shows a deep compassion that kids need to see

That being said, adults can still learn and get those lessons from George Lucas' Star Wars as well. Five year old me in 1977 loved the OT characters and the adult parent me understood just how tragic Anakin's fall really was in the end as I watched it with my son many years later

Timeless stories have no age limit.

Let's not forget that politics and love drama is for kids aaaat alll. As a kid I cared for lightsabers and cool sith and jedi. The politics stuff is now interesting as an adult. Mixerd with lightsabers and the force: perfect. It's perfect.
