Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and two others were sentenced to life imprisonment on Tuesday in the 2006 lawyer Umesh Pal kidnapping case. A compensation of ₹100,000 was also awarded to the Pal family of the accused. Umesh Pal, who was the main witness to the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was shot dead in Prayagraj on 24 February. We are joined by several guests to present their perspectives on the case. Decisions of the court must be respected but the BJP taking the credit to dismantle the mafia is laughable" said Rana Sumaiya. "BJP has done immensely well in UP.
