The longstanding rivalry between two of Africa's powerhouses, Nigeria and South Africa, is intensifying. Triggering the latest escalation is the inter-country ride-hailing prank of apps like Bolt and Uber. The online feud reportedly began in South Africa with people in the country booking rides on Bolt in Nigeria and cancelling once the driver arrived. They called it the "Request In Nigeria" Challenge. The purpose was to cause frustration and financial loss for Nigerian drivers. So, Nigeria responded by duplicating the same disruptive tactic, but even in more folds. The South Africa-Nigeria digital war is reportedly linked to the controversy around Chidimma Adetshina, the former Miss South Africa pageant contestant, who quit after backlash and xenophobic attacks and is now competing for Miss Universe Nigeria.
