CAN I CAST 150 METRES??? - FISHING AT INCREDIBLE DISTANCE!! - PROJECT 150, ROB WOOTTON

How to cast is a common question but how to cast a long way is often the question I ask myself, especially if there's a big competition on the horizon that requires a big chuck. This video runs through the journey of fishing for carp with a hybrid feeder or a method feeder at the magical distance of 150m!!

f you like these fishing videos please think about subscribing.... I love all aspects of fishing so whether it’s trying to catch more fish on the pole, fishing the feeder or just enjoy carp fishing. Match fishing and primarily uk match fishing is what I love to do. Carp are often the main target but bream, F1s and other silverfish are often the way to win a fishing match. The biggest matches are often won with the simplest approach and Hard pellet fishing is one of the top methods for commercial fisheries, couple
Hard pellet fishing with a margin fishing approach using sweetcorn for big carp or luncheon meat and that’s often a winning tactic for a snake lake when targeting carp. Method feeder fishing or hybrid feeder fishing is a tactic that works especially well and something that will catch more fish on any Uk fishery, method feeders and hybrid feeders are great when used with pellets and wafters or mini boilies as the perfect hookbait for carp, F1s and bream. Fishing videos are a great way of learning and I try to include a Live match where I take the GoPro camera to a match fishing environment and filming a match fishing event a detail the decision making process including watercraft when to feeder fish and when to pole fish and the right time of day to fish in the margins.

Interesting video that I enjoyed watching. I think you would cast further with braid straight through with out a leader, as you would be putting more power into the rod instead of the mono stretching. Also if you leaned backward on your right leg and transferred your weight through to your front foot that would also help. This was a good venue to practice on as the ground behind you dropped off, which enabled you to drop the rod tip quite low on the back swing, which gave you a large arc in which to compress the rod, not so easy on a bank that rises behind you. Practice increases distance. I know it’s a bit different but I cast for England surf casting team in the early nineties, and my longest casts were 272 yards with a fixed spool and 287 yds with a multiplier. These distance were with .35 line and an 80LB leader. I always used a leader 20LB heavier than most other casters because it stretched less putting more power into compressing the rod. Make sure you don’t over rod yourself as a softer rod fully compressed will cast further than a stiff rod half compressed,

Awesome video Rob. There are a lot of really good information about distance casting and fishing. I say if you master this distance fishing you can say you are a complete angler. In a match it can take you a step in front of the other anglers. Way to go mate. Cheers

Cracking video that rob! My distance casting needs work as you know. Interesting points with golf pro on utilising full body movement rather than all the focus been on the arm movement

Rob, I know for a fact you loved it at the range. You’ll be golfing by the end of summer and never look back ;-)

Brilliant rob would love to lay in to that feeder rod love abit of distance casting, also Gardner tackle make a stiff tube in three colours that would fit perfect into the tail rubbers on the method feeders much neater and thinner that a float check them out

We South Africans over-romanticise long distance casting and fishing (and it showed in 2019)! Great video btw Rob

Nice video. Enjoyed that. As you say if you can cast that range in favourable conditions. Hitting 70m when the wind is blowing - which is not unusual in matches. Has only got to be a valuable tool. All the best.

Cheers mate! Maybe you need to pay attention to your hungarian and romanian fellow anglers. Here’s is almost about fishing at distance 😅
My best chucks was around 120m using 10lb lines 😆👍

You need to be faster at the beginning of the casting. You're supposed to pull the end of the handle as fast as you can to your stomach, and push harder at the reel with your other hand. Try to stop the rod at 45°, and you need to aim in the air rather than to a spot on the water. I am a Hungarian feeder angler, and we are usually fishing in a greater distance than 150-160 meter. Keep up with the good work! 👏

Hi Rob, What would be easier to cast further, 4lb main line with a shock leader or a wetted 0.08 braid with a shock leader ? I always use braid for my distance casting.

I haven’t got the bottle to try that, you pay more than 2-300 quid for a rod then another 100 for a reel, last thing I want to do is break it 😮😢

Hello, with how many grams do you fish at a distance of 70-80 meters.

Easy fix...come fish with us Eastern Europeans for a couple of days 😁

Why fiddle with gluing and all that when you can use the Large Preston 80 gram method feeder. Just use a 3.2 mm cocktail straw to make a 15-20 cm tail by inserting it into the rubber tail and then in the through hole of the method. Ditch the 25QD and get yourself a Basia Air Z 45 and you are halfway there.
