14 Wacky Things About Indian Culture (Funny & Weird)

I have just completed an amazing 10-day road trip across Southern India and I love Indian culture! We started in Kochi, then went to Kollam, Madurai, Pondicherry, Auroville and Chennai, hitting many small villages and towns in between.

After this trip, I've now spent almost 4 months combined on the Indian subcontinent -- and I've reconfirmed my love for this country. Through all the ups and downs, this is really a special and unique place that I recommend everyone to visit at least once in their life.

Speaking of unique, I have noticed many cultural things while traveling India that are not commonly seen elsewhere around the world... So I decided to make this fun video, sharing all of my realizations about Indian culture!

Do you agree or disagree with any of my points? Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below -- I will be staying up all night reading and responding!

My boyfriend is Indian and he touches his parent's feet whenever he meets them. Initially I found that quite odd since in Italy we re used to hugging and kissing, but when he explained to me the meaning of the gesture, I was amazed. In general the respect that Indians have towards elders is quite amazing and very different from the rest of the world. Maybe you should also include that. Oh and also have you tried Hajmola? ;)

2:26 that's not Jeera I guess. I think that's sauf. They look similar but they taste and smells different. They are completely different spices.

Edit: I looked up on google it said in Malayalam fennel is "perum jirakam" and cumin is "jirakam". So people like me who didn't know about it got confused. Because in Assamese we got a lot of common words like in Hindi and we know fennel as saunf and cumin as jeera.
