Question is ., ..since Topaz has not updated Sharpen Ai for quite a while is the legacy model out of date as compared to the current abilities of Photo Ai . I knew about the legacy switch but have never found it necessary to go back to them

Thanks for the hidden things! Just an add is I did some Milky Way Pano's and merged in Lr then did some editing in Lr of the pano image, then sent to Photo AI the same way of course also had to get the whole image as the subject in red (sky and foreground). The great thing is after Topaz AI you can further edit in Lr with masking and whatever sliders in either DNG or Second DNG. The whole time if you selected stacking the stack is in also and if think another Topaz AI is needed it will then unstack and you can select all images of the pano go into develop reset originals and remove from Lr but you have two DNG files. The added thing is when Photo AI is doing it's editing you see a unedited file that you edited like leveling and such not shown. The Magic is when set back to Lr your previous Lr edits and Photo AI edits merge into one. That is like the biggest do not be afraid to do it or go there for the fact you can do more in Lr with the new DNG file. A big Bravo Zulu to Topaz for all of that added to the end!!! I do recommend doing the whole image not just the selected subject. I did an Egret feeding the babies and was using a 200-600mm with a 2x teleconverter and the image looked like was standing very close and so real you like could touch them. There is no over sharpening like other programs that do both noise and sharpen with some crinkle lighting in sharpen areas!

Love your channel. To honest, I thought the auto piolet did a great job on your initial run.

Another great video, is there any real reason to keep the original raw file, once Photo AI has sent back to LR the dng? Thanks

I never knew this. Thank you Anthony. Oh just one thing. When I take the raw file into topaz photo ai version 3 it exports image back into LRC as a tiff file. Any ideas.

Things I don't like about Photo AI. Firstly I do use the file/plugin extras method. Subject only masking is not good. For editing the mask a smooth and size adjustable brush would be better than the existing method. I don't like how it sharpens. If I use it, it is used at very low settings and often no more than a setting of 1. However I didn't know the old Sharpen AI models were available. So shall give that a try. On the up side, noise reduction is great. Better than Lightroom's new denoise in each case where I have compared both. I expect LRC will catch up eventually though.

Photo AI is truly a terrible tool. I try it every once in a while especially after updates and I think it does a terrible job. I like their other sharpening and noise reduction stand alone tools but Photo AI is just bad for my edits. I never does what I want it to do. Thanks for showing us how to get the old models back but honestly, it does such a poor job I would not use those either. Which is sad, this is expensive software and I will not be updating any of it anymore. On1 and Topaz Denoise/sharpen do a much better job.
