Ever wonder how many racquets he uses in a year?! Glad someone asked..
(He uses string savers!)

He's got a childlike love for life and tennis. Happy guy and great role model.

I've been using the champions choice hybrid strings on my 97 pro Staff and there is some damage to the gut strings but what Roger has worn in 30 minutes, is 2 months on my strings and i play around 10 hours per week! Mind blown!! haha, but great strings! its the only string i'll use now

Ha! And my wife complains that I buy a new racket every 6 months. I look forward to quoting Federer to her😂

I remember when I was a junior and when I started hitting harder and breaking 16 g syn gut strings every 3 weeks to a month, it made me feel proud because I was playing against HS kids when I was still in middle school. They would brag thinking they were hard hitters. In reality they were super inconsistent while I started out with consistency and gradually moved up to striking the ball harder. Seeing Roger getting excite to show us his broken strings brings back lots of childhood memories. It’s cool to see the goat still get excited about little stuff like this. The joy on his face

Broke 3 strings in 1 practice session. And he's not even one of the hardest hitting players on tour. Goes to show how hard these top pros are hitting the ball even on the average. I can't even break a synthetic gut in 3 months.

If you look at the places where he broke the string. You’ll see the accuracy of where the ball hits the racquet

I've got a racket that I use regularly for about six years, and I know guys at the club that never changed rackets for over 20 years...

"See how much its fizzled out? That's after 30 mins of practice". It takes me 6 months to break a string :(

26/27 kp but strung with natural gut. With a monofilament string, you should probably go down to 23/24 kp or even less for similar elasticity. Natural gut is just too expensive and too sensitive for my purposes. Great feeling and power, but they will wear out so much faster than synthetic strings. And if you leave them in the heat or in the cold for too long, they're gonna be unplayable.

27kg! Its the same as mine (I use pro staff too) good for control... for those who dont know, the more tenssion ypu have more control, the less you have more power

I'd love to see a pro as wealthy as Fed give away a racket at the end of every match to some kid and a kid who doesn't look loaded sitting in the posh seats.

So is he playing with a full bed of natural gut now and not the Champions Choice (Natural gut + Luxilon Alu Power Rough)?
Or when he said "all gut" was he just talking about the mains?

Holy moly around 20 thousands dollars a year on rackets.

If I understood Roger correctly, the strings he broke were 100% gut in racquet. You would expect a pro to go with hybrid with 50% gut and 50% poly. I play with 100% poly -little top spin- and have never broke a racquet with full poly strings in my life. Strung at 50 lbs tension. Some pros go with much lower tension in a full poly setup ie Jack Sock and french bald guy - forget his name. I know some young dudes who play with full poly and string racquets close to 60 lbs for greater control but they are going to kill their shoulder in time. 🎾
