Speaking of fun: when the three guitarists were around the drummer, they were making funny faces. They do that a lot. You can see it a bit better in the live video of "Freedom".

As others say, just scratching the surface of their immense talents. It’s called “the gap” by founder Miku Kobato (an 800-year old small pigeon) on Rhythm guitar/“second” vocals - the gap in expectations between five young women in maid costumes and their playing hard rock/metal music. Sure, it’s there to get attention but then after 5 or 6 songs you realize there may not be a flat-out better rock band on the planet 🌏. And there are dozens of great songs - and lots of exquisite bass, drums and guitar solos 🤘🏼. Instrumentals, acoustic numbers, ballads, metal and tons of first-class rock & hard rock that pull in influences from Hendrix & Santana to the Smashing Pumpkins, Maximum The Hormone, and all the rock greats with elements of punk, thrash, progressive, jazz, blues, etc - it’s in there. They are absolutely masters of the craft and focused on World Domination - it’s only a matter of exposure for these five incredible women, imho.

The singer and bassist didnt wanna do the whole french maid thing- but they ARE wearing versions of maid outfits- there are lots of types internationally :) Saiki the singers is kinda a chinese hostess dress- which is more or less a maid- and the bassists Misa's outfit is something along the line of a edo period or older japanese samuri lords maid/attendant- the types who were also secretly assassins who might poison the lord enemies etc. They have had different versions of all the them too over the years.

p.s They are all amazing on their instruments- the drummer bassist and lead really stand out. The drummer and bassist are up with the best in the world right now. They all do a lot of creative stuff but in service of the songs not to show off. They almost never play the same thing twice exactly the same. The lead guitarist also writes their stuff btw.

"Music should be fun" and I think that's the first thing you notice when you see band maid playing, and then you discover a bunch of a amazing albums with really interesting details everywhere. I love them.

Steve, you've just witnessed the best Hard Rock band anywhere. Hope you continue with Band-Maid. They mix in metal, pop punk, blues, jazz, funk. They have many bass solos as their rhythm section is masterclass. Songwriter/lead guitar is, dare I say, genius. They excel live as you witnessed and are as badass rockers as you will find anywhere. They are so much fun to watch and listen. You will have fun dissecting many of their songs. They have over 100 song catalog during their 8 years together. Best rockband in the world at the moment and that says a german that dont understand japanese at all (but i am learning, because of Band-Maid). Everyone in this band is over the top talented, no weak-link, always improving, naturally formed, writing their own songs (mainly Kanami, lead guitar), loving each other and their fans. Its a long time ago i had so much fun to listen to music again! Since round about 2-3 years they brought me back to rockmusic and i never looked back!

With Band-Maid, much more often than most other bands. Its great. lol and to be fair, a lot of her bass lines are basically solos if you took all other instruments out of the mix. Welcome to the club man. They really are such a reliable source of good music. No bad songs by them. They are amazing in studio, but you can't beat their live performances.
