I Got Invited To A Vietnamese Wedding 🇻🇳

Happy New Year!This video concludes my bicycle trip from North to South Vietnam.
I traveled a little over 2,133 km (1,325 miles) during this journey. Along the way, I had three flat tires, one broken spoke, and completed the entire trip wearing the famous Vietnamese sandals. I might have even set some unofficial world records in them! No accidents, no physical injuries—just a full range of Vietnam’s extreme weather. Everything was documented on my Strava: Dustin Cheverier
* Longest ride: 256 km (159 miles) near the Cambodian border to Ho Chi Minh City (shown in this video).
* Most elevation in a single ride (and hardest day): 2,779 m (9,117 ft) Video link.
* Total riding days: 21.
* Total elevation for the trip: 19,992 m (65,590 ft).
To answer some of your questions:
1. My dog, Xúc Xích (in the video, pronounced “soup sick”): I’m fortunate to have neighbors who take care of her when I’m away.
2. Why do I wear sandals? The main reason is their versatility—I can cycle and walk in them, they’re lightweight, compact, and can get wet without an issue. Also, I wear size 45-46, which is nearly impossible to find in Vietnam. Carrying extra pairs of shoes would take up too much space on a bicycle.
3. Riding solo: I’ve done many bike trips in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and the USA, and I always prefer doing them solo. It allows me to ride at my own pace and follow my own plans.

From Vietnam to Cali, Dustin appears so much different. If you dress like you did in Cali and walk on Saigon streets, you are a super model there.

I’ve been living here in Saigon since towards the end of 2023. Got married here as well. And so far been to 2 weddings already. Just stumbled across your channel. I’m a new subscriber. And been enjoying your videos. Especially the countryside. That’s a great way to tour a country on bicycle 😎

It is quite rare to see a foreigner speak Vietnamese as naturally as a native, using phrases like 'Dạ' so often 🥰. I know it’s not easy to learn a new language to that level. Thank you for your efforts and for sharing about Vietnamese culture!

I'm Vietnamese and am so impressed with Dustin's command of the Vietnamese language. He even flatters people in Vietnamese well. Respect.

Dustin, please don’t let the comments about your attire get to you. I truly admire your authenticity and down-to-earth approach. I would never criticize you, knowing that all you have is your bike and sometimes just một nải chuối. Đôi khi còn quên cái quần ở nhà 😅. You’re not chasing luxury, but living a purpose—this isn’t a vacation, it’s a journey with meaning. Your presence alone already means so much. Wishing you good health, safety, and a fulfilling journey ahead.
