I'm not "anti beta alanine". It's actually one of the few fitness supplements that has been researched pretty extensively and shown to have training performance benefits.

However, based on the available evidence, those benefits seem to apply primarily to longer duration bouts of exercise lasting roughly in the 1-10 minute range.

If you're performing typical hypertrophy style workouts where the primary goal is muscle growth/strength gain, I doubt it will be of much use on the majority if not all of your sets.

And if you are performing a style of training where beta alanine use would be beneficial (lots of high rep sets with short rest periods) then you should probably re-consider your approach as that won't be optimal for hypertrophy in the first place.

(Systemic fatigue will be more likely to become the limiting factor during your sets versus raw muscular ability)

If money isn't an issue + you want every possible edge you can get in the gym + you do perform a decent amount of higher rep work + the histamine response (AKA itchy butthole effect) doesn't bother you (or perhaps you actually enjoy it), then go for it.

But all in all I don't see any convincing reason to bother with beta alanine specifically for bodybuilding purposes, which is what it's typically marketed for and why most people buy it.

P.S. I've gotten tons of messages asking me to comment on the recent turkesterone controversy that sprung up over the weekend, AKA lab testing that has allegedly shown certain highly popular turkesterone products to contain virtually no actual turkesterone. These are very serious allegations and more information is needed, so I won't be saying anything specific on it for now until we learn more in the coming days/weeks.

I actually use Beta Alanine specifically for the itchy butthole as it increases glute activation in my training
