How To Pass The Army's Combat Fitness Test (HBO)

For the first time in nearly 40 years, the United States Army is changing how it measures the physical fitness of its soldiers. Over the course of the next year and a half, the Army will roll out the new Army Combat Fitness Test, or ACFT, to its 1.1 million soldiers across the globe. It’s hoped that the new test will prepare troops for the rigors of combat, something that some commanders say the old test was failing to do.

VICE News correspondent Alzo Slade headed down to Fort Eustis, Virginia, to see if he could measure up.

Finally. Took them 40 damn years to change that shit. Being able to do 60 situps doesnt really help in combat. Plus situps screw up your back so Im glad they took it out.

Ask the soldiers to answer anonymously for an accurate answer to the outdated pt test, you'll be surprised by how far physical fitness has come since the '80s.

Literally just run track for two months and you’ll ace this thing

I thought the main selling point of pushups, situps and a run was that you could do the test anywhere with no equipment. Now its going to require weights and straps and medicine balls and kettlebells.

Former Army Medic here. I wish I could take this test while I was in. It looks like fun and seriously tests your combat abilities. I'm genuinely interested in this. This is a great move by the Army: first the removal of the berets (absolutely hated them), removal of the ACU's ( who in Gods name approved that POS), and now this.
