Guess it's about time I built one of these.

HouseMade great builds and kits and plans

Old Hickory Forge great grinder build and tons of blades

Jer Schmidt, you know how it seems I just make stuff up as I go along, well this fella doesn't do that!

These were 40 bucks, they have gone up, don't buy them they suck.

This thing is a lie, holes are not 1/2 it's some metric nonsense! Don't by it!

Enjoy the grinder, it has been my finding that the better the belts you get the better it does. Thank you for sharing. 🤞👏

i know the feeling on tapping and dies! getting them started straight drives me nuts and don't get me started on matching threads and measuring them with those little gauges! if i can get away with it i'll just do a through hole and weld a nut on the backside!! the last one that told me it wasn't that hard almost ended up on their ass!! one thing on this one you might want to consider a speed control adjustment switch for it

Check on amazon /ebay /ali express spring loaded tap follower.its a awesome little device you can mount in a drill chuck of drill press-just clamp a peace to table, drill a correct size hole and put follower and tap it .It will keep tap straight.
And they are like 20$ so its not that expensive. If you know someone with a lathe they can make it for you its easy to build, whole device needs 3 parts and a spring .If you do it with reamer and axles for 3d printer whole thing can be super accurate and very easy to make, very little machining needed.

Bolt will never be the right size for bearing because the part behind the thread is undercut, beside those bolts were never made in accuracy for bearing fit. Maybe if you get calibrated bolts
but those aint cheap . You can put beer can shim if there is too much play between bolt and bearing .Beer can shim works nicely when you got loose bearing housing. A dip of crazy glue/locktite to hold shim and its like new housing .(we used to do this on moped aluminum rim wheels as kids)

Bean cans, deodorant spray cans, paint thiner can, lids-all good sources of different kind of shims. One of may favorite is steel packing tape, ones they use to strap things on pallets during transport. Companys throw those so you cna usualy pick them for free.
Another source is pet bottles or plastic sewer pipes, different kinds of shampoo bottles etc if you need soft shim.
