From Story of the World to Singapore Math to Evan Moor and everything in between, there were many things that worked, a couple that didn't, and some we didn't even get around to using - yet. We use SOTW, Beast Academy, and I *love* TPT :) One of our favorite products is Real Science 4 Kids--- If your kids like hands-on school, it is amazing, in-depth, and not watered-down. Next to SOTW, it's our favorite. I've only watched 2 of your videos so far, so I'm not sure if you've used it, but if you haven't you may enjoy giving it a try!
SOTW covered some of the history of Africa last year, and we were particularly interested in the story of Mansa Musa, but we've been disappointed with how few quality resources we have been able to come across about ancient Africa (outside of Egypt) since. So thank you for your recommendation on Assata and Me, and Horrible History, I'll be ordering those soon!

Great video! Especially the history resources. Also I am totally going to use the thing where you block out the grade level if you feel it's the appropriate amount of challenge for your child but you don't want the push back because it's not " their " grade level
