Steve Brabbs, global technology leader for DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers, explains emissivity and why it's important for pallet covers to have a low emissivity in cold chain logistics.

Surfaces with low emissivity don't transfer heat from one material to another as long as there is an air gap between those surfaces.

The inner, metallized layer of Tyvek® has a low emissivity - which helps any extra, outlying solar radiation that may not have been reflected from the bright, white Tyvek® outer layer, from moving inwards to the pallet of products.

DuPont™ Tyvek® Cargo Covers are a global pallet covers solution specifically engineered to protect products from cold chain breaks during air transit – when your controlled room temperature (CRT) pharmaceutical and temperature-sensitive products are at their greatest risk for temperature excursions.
Tyvek® Cargo Covers are made using a flash spinning process unique in commercial manufacturing. To protect pharmaceuticals in the cold chain supply chain, Tyvek® Cargo Covers are:

- Reflective to reduce temperature excursions and cold chain breaks
- Breathable to allow gases, vapors and condensation to pass through
- Durable to control physical hazard intrusion and provide protection from adverse weather
- Easy-to-use and install

Tyvek® Cargo Covers are recyclable and can be transformed into a range of new materials, from recycled plastic lumber (RPL) and marine engineering products to flooring, pallets, park benches, playground equipment and much more.
