I think the jeans are cool. She is fit so she can pull off baggy clothes. Why would she wear the same jeans like everyone else. That would be boring.

The trick with wide leg jeans, for shorter gals, is not the shoe. Not every petite woman wants to wear a several inch heel as her best option. The trick is not the shoe. The trick is in selecting a wide leg denim in a fluid denim material. The denim at the base of a wide leg jean for petite ladies 5'4" and under, need to have movement when walking. If the jean denim has movement and not stiff, it will not be stiff at the hem, it will move when taking steps and strides, even draping fluidly in different standing positions. Also, the wide leg for shorter ladies should not be as wide above the knee. The jean should subtly widen below the knee to its widest point at the hem. It's the difference of the wide leg jean wearing the shorter lady vs. the shorter lady wearing the wide leg.
Also, the wide leg should also have a higher waist rise. That way the legs look longer than they are WITHOUT having to wear heels, one could even wear a pair of flip flops and still fool the eye with the legs appearing longer. Then a top/tee or sweater that is cropped or top that is tucked in, all would balance out the high rise of the jean and the wide leg cut of the denim. All without having to wear a several inch heel, one could substitute a platform sneaker without it being an outrageously platform sole. And shop petite sizing vs. standard sizing that is super helpful for wide leg denim for shorter ladies because the leg rise (length)gives an even better chance of finding that one pair of wide leg denim that may actually work but even petite sizing can still run long for ladies 5'2" and under.

I'm 5'2 and have tried many a wide leg and so far only one have I found and those jeans met all the considerations. Not easy.

That said boot cut/flare jeans work, in most cases best of all for long leg optics on shorter ladies.

The goal is to avoid looking like head and jeans or not, to each their own.
