Nigeria dominated the game plus extra time while England players were absolutely patheric and they will have to go back, analyse the game and hopefully there will be some hard truths in the changing room. They need to hold each other accountable, including that moment with Lauren James because England are very lucky to have progressed to the quarter-finals and they definitely need to step up performances if they want to get all the way to a final.

This lady completely got her analysis wrong by saying “if England plays the way they played against China…….. “ She completely ignored the fact that the number of goals scored by England against China was as a result of a very poor goal keeping on the side of China. If England goes to face Nigeria with this kind of false confidence, it would be England’s greatest mistake. If there is any team in the tournament Nigeria would deliberately prove difficult to, it is England. Another point is, Australia beat England at the friendly match towards this World Cup. Nigeria beat Australia on their own ground. So England should never make the mistake of using the match against China to underestimate Nigeria. This match is going to be rough and very physical. Expect loads of yellow cards, if not red. May the better team win. What I think England should be careful about is defensive errors, which can start occurring when a good team is put under serious pressure. My take!
