Sky News host Paul Murray sits down with Australian farmers Maryan and Jock Hunter in their historic town of Moree to discuss the region’s cultural significance.

Ms Hunter said after so many years in Moree, what keeps her there is “the love of it”, the love of the land, the district and her community.

“We’ve both been on the land all our life and been involved in agriculture and it’s just been rewarding and we love our district,” she told Mr Murray.

Jock and Maryan explore some of the many challenges they face as regional farmers and dig into the importance of supporting and valuing Australian farmers.

In this edition of Our Town, Paul Murray shines a light on one of the nation’s most underappreciated industries and Mr and Mrs Hunter are front and centre of Australia’s farming history.

Perhaps we would like to discuss the complete barrier to entry for the next generation of aspiring farmers ? No possible way a young man just starting out can ever afford the price of land, machinery, ect to start farming. The greed of these old farts has priced the young out of the market. For this reason farming will soon be dead to australian young all these farms will be sold to chinese investors instead of being passed onto the next generation. Boomers greed destroys everything.
