In this video 'TSA3255 300W Class D Amplifier Gets Specification Testing with QuantAsylum QA401', I will run a series of tests to build a specification for this amplifier. More Amps will be specified in the future. #TPA3255 #ClassD #classdamplifier #quantAslyum #QA401 QA403

Please support this channel that will not cost anything extra by using my link to Borbede BD-99, this meter is around $47 which is low cost for a high count meter with high accuracy:

Hi. Thank you for your channel from an Aussie fellow old school audio specialist PCB level tech and live/recorded sound engineer.
Yeah, IMD is the party stopper/ear bleeder. THD can add useful character/voice, IMD causes non stationary underlying dynamic noise behaviour that is totally anharmonic and unnatural hence the ear fatigue caused.
Close examination of amplifier IMD level/frequency dependant characteristic behaviours ought to be useful to correlating subjective findings.
Typical vocals power range is say 200Hz>3k, selected IMD test frequencies somewhere in this band and just outside I expect would be more useful for predicting subjective results than typical IMD test frequencies.
Keep up your great work !.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious how 8 ohms load and your isolated power supply would plot out.

HI Eddie, thank you for another extraordinary video. 🙌 😆

Regulation can't help the hopeless output impedance. Try it with a real speaker load might help, but it's a non runner for audio if it doesn't.

Unregulated power supplies in amps is an obvious shortcoming. But the audiophiles, especially the tube amp people seem to ignore, or are just ignorant of it, yet will be duped into paying a few grand for a magic power cable.
Go figure.

Nice work Eddie, this amp is a non starter for me @ 2Khz 11 watts we had a THD+N of 1%...junk. But I am looking forward now to run the same battery of test on different Amps. I have a headphone amp but it's just a PCB with schematic and no parts but it uses off the shelf stuff like the BD139 and BD140 old school but all jellybean parts and would love to see how it performs under scrutiny ! I think it sounds great and it's quite small I will find out how much would cost to post you one and you might be interested in building it and testing it. I could email a picture of it ? I'm not sure if you would be into something like that tho so just sayin ! cheers Eddie

Really like you to do some analysis on these discrete op-amps like the sparkos, they produce a high class A gain lower noise floor then ICs. example looking at their chart the SS3601/2 equivalent to numerous ICs best one in the chart is the OPA1642: gain 134dB, gain at 10KHZ 60dB, noise 5.1nV√Hz.
the discrete op- amp ss3601/2 is, gain 140dB, gain at 10KHZ 90dB, noise 3nV√Hz. These all look like good figures.
And the frequency graph look good as well below -115 dB
I'd like you analysis and trying them out in some of your amplifiers. They do voltage regulators as well

Yep, a large part of the audio community are simply not focusing on the right things. Its subjective over objective.

One of life's harder lessons ... having every tool on the planet won't make you any smarter.

I truly appreciate the effort you put into these videos. Can't wait to see the mods. I'd also like to make a donation to the channel in the form of hardware. Some years back I acquired some "high end" Astec MVP (MP6) power supplies (+48v 600/800w) They trim out between 34-59v. Isolated 5v housekeeping and single wire parallel and blah, blah, blah.... I think you may find them interesting... google MVP MP6 datasheet are still available. Let me know and I'll send a couple out. No Strings Attached. Thanks again...

You had a weird delay in one channel to the next... did you get more information about it?

Hello Eddie ! I've sent you an email with some PDFs, maybe you'll find it useful. Cheers ! Adrian

I've seen a lot of equipment with good measurements sound bad. But I've never found anything with bad measurements sound good.
I've learned to toss out everything that measures bad. No point in even looking at it. Then consider buying the rest.

😆 "That That sh*ts not not acceptable? "shhh...ould not be there." me: Oh... 🤣 I think I have the same or very similar model of amplifier in a bin somewhere... I need to get my gear in order to toy around, it looks like a hoot... a dirty, dirty hoot. I think in a previous video just showing a sig.gen running sinus and you can clearly see the wonky output wave on the Micsig.

Tweeter and cats/dogs will not like those 20kHz + harmonics.

Once again ... the input to that amplifier is single ended. By feeding it differential signals you are not relating your signals to ground. The readings are going to be way off.. without a common ground they will all be polluted by hum and interference pickup.
