This cheerful looking animal is known as a Quokka and is often referred to as the happiest animal in the world. Unlike other marsupials, they are exclusively herbivorous and nocturnal animals. These creatures are native to Australia and belong to the macropod family which includes kangaroos and wallabies. Like all macropods they also have a pouch in which they carry and nurture their young called a joey. Additionally, whenever a quokka faces a threat, it may eject its young from the pouch in order to escape from a predator, helping to ensure the survival of its species.
