Thanks for the rant. I’m installing some of this shit that was given to me to cover a 100 year old hardwood in my farmhouse just to cover it until I can refinish the floor. Why anyone would consider this is bed bath and beyond me. D

Yep; couldnt agree with you more. Also if the floor is not perfectly flat underneath, you can feel all the soft spots through the vinyl planks.

Hi, im from the UK and I am a builder. We specialise in internal renovations, I have had 3 experiences with this type of product (Amtico click)
1st was where we renovated the living room and dining area. The customer had arranged the flooring installation directly and within 3 months the floor had to be replaced.
2nd was a kitten installation, customer supplied all materials, the subfloor was a suspended timber, we lined the floor boards with 12mm hardwood ply to even out the surface flat. The planks would randomly pop open (short joints), you could be 3 - 5 runs away and it would poo open. Laid approx 1/2 the room and it was turning into a game of 'whack a mole'. Spoke to Client and we agreed to throw the towel in and tile the floor. At that point I was not keen on the LVT system, but also chalked it up to the timber floor frame having a spring/ bounce rather than a thud like concrete floor.
3rd time is now and we have just finished an 8wk project, again a kitchen renovation. Finished all painting, and looking amazing. Peel the floor protection up and customer notices a scratch. We were fully aware of potentially damage during the job and took precautions to prevent this. Floor was meticulously vacuumed, cardboard protection roll taped and throughout and hardboard (4.8mm HDF) on top.
I'm very disappointed with this type of product, I will never install nor offer this to anyone in the future. absolutely agree, over priced garage, selling the dream but can't deliver.

Rant over 😉🤣

I just spent an entire day on one 20x20 room and didn't get 1/3 of the way finished. The Lifeproof garbage vinyl flooring at Home Depot won't lock together without breaking when you install an adjacent row. I could've installed a real wood floor today and been done with it. Horrible.

Isn’t this for the cheap stuff at the box stores? This isn’t the case for all vinyl. I installed a Spc 20 mil vinyl floor and have none of the issues you are talking about. I think it’s more of you get what you pay for.

I wish I found your video earlier. I already had this crap installed a few weeks ago and now it’s too late. I feel soft spots despite paying extra to contractor to level all areas they deemed needed. So then why am I feeling soft spots. Time will tell now. Hopefully I’ll get lucky. Never again though.

I bought some of this in the UK and it looks better quality than yours even though it's only 4mm. I installed it on a really flat floor but it soon started to crack from flexing too much in heavy use areas.

The store I bought it from gave me some cash back and two new boxes of planks and I'm going to attempt a repair today.

I'd definitely never buy it at 4mm again.

Would love your thoughts on flooring when you have a large inside dog. Our engineered hardwood was destroyed from him. We were thinking vinyl but I’m second guessing that now.

I totally agree. This stuff is cheap and does not wear well. You will have to replace it after a few years.

Why can’t I find more honest reviews about this stuff online? I’m 2 rooms in and am reconsidering for another material because of how many pieces have busted on me. What can I get for similar budget to LVP you’d recommend over it? Laminate?

Of the rental properties I've done, one of them has stayed in place, my buddy and i decided we wanted to do it no transitions. That was also with a ridgid core style. lot of really defensive people in this thread. Of the Vinly plank I've installed I like two brands, neither of them is over 3.00 per sq.ft

I had a tenant wash the floor with a bucket and a string mop. All the seams swelled.

I wish I could’ve sent this to my mother before she got talked into these stupid planks. I hate them. They’re soft, they’re not good at insulating from the cold. They smell. It’s annoying as hell and everybody seems to love these pieces of crap.

What type of flooring do you recommend? Engineered flooring?

Does this sentiment exist for even the high end stuff? I’m building a luxury 3600 sq ft home and was just about to order Shaw Titan HD Plus which is 30mil and commercial rated. Even with those specs, am I still looking at all these problems?

The level of flatness you need to install this stuff is idiotic. I spent weeks meticulously flattening my subfloor and this stuff pops at the seems from the slightest pressure.

what type of laminate are you referring to (that you can take the pieces out without damaging the surrounding pieces)?

Thanks for info, what brand that suck?

Not everyone breaks locking mechanism when installing. Those that don't know wtf they are doing do. A 20 mil, rigid core or any durable quality plank will not have this problem. Stop speaking on a product when you base your opinion on shit product from box stores.
