"Wait for It" is the thirteenth song from Act 1 of the musical Hamilton, based on the life of Alexander Hamilton, which premiered on Broadway in 2015. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote both the music and lyrics to the song. It speaks of Aaron Burr's undying determination in the face of Hamilton's swift rise to influence and power.Vocally, it covers a baritenor range of Ab2 to Ab4.

This is a masterclass in acting through song… The DEPTH of this performance! Every bar is so purposeful, so different different, so specific. The way he holds back during “what is it like in his shoes” and gets a lil twinkle in his eyes, then throws his whole body and soul into “we rise and we fall”, only to suddenly reel it back in for the last “wait for it” is just 😭.” He 150% deserved his Tony for this song alone. This is quality that can only come from decades of experience. We’re so lucky to have him in our lifetime 💖

I love how Leslie was closing his eyes when he sang the lines, "I am inimitable, I am an original." It's like he was reassuring himself that my choice to wait for everything in life is fine and will have a great reward in the future. 🥹💕
