Buick Encore GX 2024. Following last week’s unveiling of the facelifted 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer , we expected its mechanical twin to get an update as well. It is now done.

This is the 2024 Buick Encore GX, presented today at the Toronto International Auto Show. Despite its entry-level status, it is the first model to sport Buick ‘s new logo in North America. The redesigned front end is similar to that of the Buick Envista for the Chinese market and the electric concept Buick Wildcat EV , seen at the last Montreal Auto Show. The thinned headlights and the redesigned grille give it more character.

Added to this are new alloy wheels ranging in diameter from 18 to 19 inches. The rear takes up the Buick logo with the brand name right in the center of the tailgate, then incorporates updated lights.

The model in red in the images is the Sport Touring, accented by several gloss black finish trims, while the one in chrome-trimmed blue is the new top-of-the-line Avenir trim, a first for the Encore GX to join its big names . Envision and Enclave brothers .

More techno cabin.

The 2024 Buick Encore GX is also the first Buick model on the continent to offer the new interior decor concept with the brand’s so-called «virtual cockpit.» We are talking here about an 8-inch configurable digital instrumentation and a central 11-inch touchscreen facing the driver, both placed side by side behind the same glass surface.

The redesigned multimedia system that drives everything adopts a new presentation, a customizable home screen and more easily accessible functions. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is now wireless.

Note also more refined materials and unique pattern stitching, particularly in the Avenir version. It also includes a two-tone beige and black finish as well as front seats with eight power adjustments. Also, the headrests have stitched logos and a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel is found in the Sport Touring version.

One engine.

For 2024, the Encore GX eliminates the 1.2-liter engine and keeps only the 1.3-liter, which is a wise decision. This turbocharged block with three cylinders (we would prefer four) once again generates 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. The front-drive versions use a continuously variable transmission, while those with all-wheel drive (including the Sport Touring and Avenir) get a nine-speed automatic.

The rest of the changes are minimal. A set of six active safety and driver assistance devices remain standard. Blind spot alert, adaptive cruise control and digital rear view mirror are optional.

The 2024 Buick Encore GX will go into production in March and hit the market in late spring. Its prices will be announced by then.
