I completely forgot the rest of the crew were held hostage in this episode. I just thought they were waiting around bored as fuck on the space station for 45 minutes until the Enterprise was done in the car wash.

Numbing his pain numbs the effectiveness of the visor, that's why he just deals with it. That was literally explained in rest of the scene that you showed.

I interpreted this as they have been using the pain suppression this whole time. But since he's been shot she dialed it up. It's probably like any pain medication, if you give him too much he becomes drowsy or dizzy.

Love how Geordi goes for the Vulcan "Sense-Oars"

I mean, Scott's visor also doesn't shoot lasers, it just stops them and enable him to release them at will. But it would've been cool if it was basically a phaser, I'll give you guys that

When I was a kid, I used to pretend Geordi could shoot blasts from his visor like Cyclops.

The visor pain thing is hilarious when you remember that pain itself is such a rare thing at the start of the show, 60 year old Picard had never even had a headache before season one episode 9....

I was looking forward to this short, and it did not disappoint. 😂

Altering his receptors to block pain comes with the drawback of reducing his vision.

I always imagined that it's not a shooting pain Geordi is feeling, but sort of a dull, constant discomfort. Like a weak headache.

careful now, you keep spoiling us with all these edits and we'll expect even more

Yeah I felt like as a kid Jordy was cool simply because Cyclops was cool, and deep down I was always like maybe this is the episode they'll give him optic beams

Data should have built in phasers, tricorder, communicator and feet rockets.

The way he says "sense-oars" is a standard star trek quirk but it's even dumber when he's talking about physiological senses. Touch, hearing and balance aren't sense-oars. They're not even really sensors.

Are you familiar with Grin's Fair-Use Recuts? He had one where he turned the whole crew into X-Men, including Geordi as Cyclops.

The only transducers I'm familiar with are audio transducers. I imagine if Geordi's visor was constatntly vibrating, yeah, that could get painful.

Actually, Cyclop's visor _blocks_ his optic blasts
