September 30, 2020. Amplifying African Diaspora voices and culture for collective action: The power of stories in changing mindsets.
In the midst of an unprecedented cultural and global moment the Aspire Artemis Foundation and the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations held a high level event to amplify African Diaspora voices and culture for collective action during High-level week of the United Nations General Assembly as the United Nations celebrated its 75th Anniversary.
The period 2015 - 2024 was announced as the UN International Decade for People of African Descent. Recent events globally emphasize the necessity for such a Decade of justice, recognition and development.
With four years left for the fulfilment of this decade.
The event highlighted the contributions of Afro-descendants to the social, economic, and political sphere of their communities globally. It launched a global call to action to HELP TRAIN, UPSKILL, FUND AND EMPOWER THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS FROM THE AFRICAN DIASPORA GLOBALLY.
On September 30, 2020 we heard from many people across the globe as well as experienced the richness in diversity of the Afrodescendant people globally through storytelling and music.
A vibrant and diverse array of speakers and performers contributed to this important endeavour to spotlight powerful narratives from across the expansive African diaspora.
The event was chaired by Senior BBC Broadcast Correspondent and founder of MANSA magazine, Ms. Maggie Mutesi and featured speakers included:

- His Highness Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie of Ethiopia
- His Highness Prince Khaled al- Senussi of Libya
