The question answered by David is just common sense question and he answered properly but we should not misinterpret as Banks are going to use XRP . That was hypothetical question . We have to be careful of what heads of any company say because they have to make everything look better than it is . They can only give you hope and hype . Just about a year ago most of the XRP community was talking about " Taking over SWIFT " and now a year after Ripple has not managed to take any business away from SWIFT . Ripple failed to get share of cross border payment so now Ripple is concentrating on remittance market which is less than 1% cross border payment market . In mean time SWIFT has increased its business by 8% so far. Now nobody talks about " taking over SWIFT ". Now there is new hopium pill given " $10 trillion nostro / vostro account ". Now the question is to David What would happen if a large amount of banks did not adopt Xrapid, how would that impact token's value ? My past experience tells me be skeptical about any claims, check & recheck & confirm and be objective .

Hi Edi, remember that the slower companies will choke if they allow others to adopt and they don't. Right now we at least have one company using ODL. This one company has the potential to be the dominant $tx service which will receive all the business and others will have to close due to overhead costs. My point is many fi's will not die without a fight and will adopt as soon as possible. Their life depends on it. Definitely not 5 years. In 5 years MoneyGram will kill all other services.

I get that banks hold cash in foreign accounts to facilitate international payments. But what I don’t understand is that if this cash is freed up and XRP is used instead, then the banks will end up having to spend billions on XRP and hold that to facilitate foreign payments.
So if you have billions if cash in escrow accounts or billions in XRP what difference does that make, as either way your money is still tied up but simply in a new currency (xrp)?
Also, China is a major major market but it appears China are completely against crypto so it’s unlikely Chinese banks will accept XRP transfers! Thoughts?

Investing in XRP will take an extraordinary amount of patience so people need to be diversified in other quality coins too.

The debate here really is between the fundamentalists and the technical analysts. Fundamentally speaking XRP has value, however, in auction markets, value and price are seldom in equilibrium. May 2020 will usher in more valuation clarity, specifically for miners, when Bitcoin halves. At that point a more cogent argument could be made that the XRP price is undervalued. During that time, XRP will more than likely test price support from trading back in 2017 before it went to an all time high. From a Market Profile view, there still is a "pocket of low usage" in the uncompleted bell curve from 2017, which indicated we will need to be trading between 5 to 15 cents for an intermediate period, during which time price excesses are known to happen, specially if Bitcoin starts trading under $3500. Incidentally, if XRP were to start trading (in excess) at 0.005 to 0.03 cents, it would be the ideal opportunity for RippleLabs to distribute(sell) the remaining 50 Billion XRP in escrow, with the the aim of legitimizing its MarketCap and widening its circulation. Concurrently, this can be accomplished while simply blaming the low prices of the fall of Bitcoin.
