This is the condensed story of how I found my ULTIMATE couch gaming setup. I wanted to be able to play all of my PC and retro games in the living room, with one controller- just pick up and play where you left off- simple right?

Well, the reason I made this video in a sort of story-time fashion instead of telling you straight on what setup I ended up with was because I feel strongly that there is a lot of information here that can be useful to a lot of people, and it's much more useful when presented in the context of all the other things I tried in order to create my perfect living room gaming setup.

This video assumes you already have some working knowledge of PC gaming, retro emulation, and game streaming, etc- so if you have any questions please let me know in the comments and I'll try to provide learning resources or make new videos on those topics.

I had a laptop that crapped out on me after two years. Buying a replacement when the components are tied to an expensive motherboard was a no-go for me. That meant I had to go with a tower again so that a dead motherboard doesn't take everything with it.

This meant that I had no laptop to use over my friend's place anymore. Using this as a guide with the moonlight app on my phone saved me the trouble of lacking portability, so thanks.

Also, Ryujinx will knife fight you behind an Arby's before it remembers a bluetooth controller.

I was trying to solve almost this exact problem so I could play retro games in the living room with my wife. Steam Rom Manager was the missing piece of the puzzle for my setup since I already had all the emulators setup on my gaming PC and steam link was working great on my Apple TV.
Highly recommend this setup to anyone who wants to separate their relaxing gaming time from an office environment where the main PC is usually setup

I have zero issues with the Steam Link and an Ethernet connection, but I will agree that a hardwired Apple TV is a great option as well.

Just a heads up, the Xbox Series S and X have some sort of "developer mode" you can enable very easily (made so that people can easily develop their own games and not need a dev kit), and people are already creating full-blown RetroPie setups that you can launch right on your XSX.

Would be nice if you could do a tutorial on how to setup all up. I cant get my ps4 controller to controll any emulator from steam link. And can youn get the games to do 16:9? Even old games?

I have a set up kinda like this but with an Amazon fire stick 4K max the plan was to have it set up in the living room and bedroom but I only have one 4K max and the 4K doesn’t have enough power so I’ll have to try my Apple TV 4K

i ran to my apple tv and xbox with my controller with the quickness. that dual Bluetooth sync was amazing. now what do I do with the three other controllers I don't need....

The Xbox button on my controller brings up the AppleTV side menu instead of the Steam Big Picture menu. The work around is to hold the back button and use the virtual controller.

Is there an alternative? Can i program the AppleTV so that the controller doesnt open the AppleTV menu?
