Though there are many words for talking about death, you are not allowed to use those words in every situation. You have to be careful with the words that you use. There are some special words and phrases to talk about death like had his last breath, passed away, eternal sleep. These words help us to talk about the serious subject death in a very polite way.

Similarly there are lots of other situations which require special words or foreign words to avoid embarrassing ourselves and upsetting others. The phrases and the words that are used to replace those words which are considered harsh, impolite, rude, offensive and embarrassing are called as euphemisms.
