You might have heard of the "Costco" guys...but have you heard of Justin "Costco" Kirkland? "Costco" spent nearly nine seasons in the minor leagues before finally getting his big break in the NHL... and only 8 games into his NHL career, Kirkland suffered severe injuries in a car crash just outside the Anaheim Ducks arena. Yet..."Costco" beat the odds once again, and scored his first NHL goal this past week!

I got to watch Kirkland hoist the Ed Chynoweth Cup in the WHL with Leon Draisaitl and Josh Morrissey nearly a decade ago. That team went on to lose in OT during the final game of the Memorial Cup. Flames legend Dillon Dube was also on that team, along with Madison Bowey who got drafted by the Canucks but saw little NHL success
