President Lincoln was the First US president to be assassinated and his assassination was arguably the most traumatic coming only 5 days after the effective end of the American civil war, whilst the wounds of war were very much fresh. But it was almost far worse.

Thank Jesus for his protecting hand of the US government. I've read that Lincoln knew he was going to die from two dreams. He was ready, I think. He's now in Heaven, I also read that he got saved by Christ after the Civil War ended and he had prayer meetings with former slaves as well.
