WOW. Nice Video!!! I got the 1997 528i manual last year!!!. Paid $3, 200 and spent around $4, 000 to get to the condition I have now. I have done most of the maintenance and repair. Easy car to maintain and repair. The most comfortable car I have right now. I also have G20 340Xi and M2. However, I am the most excited when I drive this car. Bought it at 113, 900mile and I plan to keep this beauty until 400k miles. Luckily I have no rust very well kept.

Can't wait to fix the cosmetics on a 540i I just picked up in Oxford Green Metallic and share the video with E39 Source! Beautiful example - the Oxford Green was NOT what I was looking for it was just the example I found, but it's grown on me quite a bit. Well done Olivier.

Still look at e39 when see these in town. Shame you can’t find them in good condition anymore. I still look for 530i 2002-2003 with M Paket.

E39 the best car I ever owned so far. Bought 6 months ago ‘02 525i with sport package and only 74k miles, still spend around 5k$ since I bought, but most of it were interior and exterior changes. Only change radiator with hoses and thermostat so far on mechanical part, probably will start do some suspension changes soon, already ordered new front struts. Although it’s automatic, initially was looking for manual with M54 but the prices on them crazy now, didn’t found less than 10k$ in my region, and they had like 140k miles or even more. But overall the car is amazing and got some plans for it in the future

Nice example! I like the colors matching. Sounds like you will have to do the auxiliary belts and tensioners -> squeaking noises coming up from the front of the hood.

That's a really sweet looking E39. Get a heat gun and carefully blast the black trim (best thing is to take it off the car so it doesn't melt the paint next to the trim) it's gonna be nice and black again so you can buy the numer plate holder delete - I have a European E39 and bought an American size number plate trim new from BMW and after doing this to my old bleached out trim it's very very hard to see the difference.
Also I like how you said not many options in a car with electric coloumn, seats, memory, heated seats and steering wheel, telephone l, ski bag, sunroof etc hehe... All seems like fancy options compared to my bog standard fleet E39 that just has the automatic air con and power windows (you could get these cars with manual air con and windy windows in the back in Europe)

I have the 98 E39 528i N. America US version Alpine White I love the car its solid build gives quite rise and you didn't mention the E39 was built in Germany the E39s came to N. America by ship 🚢

Hey Qlivier nice car, it passed Quebec inspection with that rust on it? Where did you get it done? Bought many E's and always loved the 5 series. Bought a few from Ontario that had more rust hidden on them than unpainted Quebec cars. It is getting hard to find pre 2002 BMW's manual cars without tons of rust. Do your body first and then change the little plastic bits. Are you going to Mont Tremblant this September for the BMW club autocross?
